Materials testing and Selection

From detailed characterisation and analysis work through to mechanical testing and durability studies. We have access to a wide range of specialist equipment through our links and special collaborative arrangements with Universities. Choosing the right material for a specific application is critical for success and we can advise on material choice, especially in the field of polymer/plastics/rubbers/sealants/adhesives and coatings.

Adhesive bonding and surface science

An increasing number of today’s industries rely on adhesive bonding especially as different combinations of materials – sometimes exotic – are used to gain cost and performance enhancements. We can advise on material selection and application. Surface chemistry and topography are important indicators for adhesion to a surface.

Sealing technolgy

This is an important and often overlooked area, where cost of failure can be high - from sealing building structures against the weather through to sealing cylinder heads in combustion engines. We have years of both practical and research experience in sealing a variety of applications.

Coating Technology

(*new* coating available for labels and digital print to improve UV weathering)

Specialised surface coatings for decorative and performance properties such as UV and corrosion resistance. These include special scratch resistant UV curing technology, PVD vacuum metalisation and other techniques including pad / thermal printing, gravure, litho, screen and spray coatings. We have also developed a new coating for In-Mould Labels that provides superior resistance to UV degradation and greater service life in outdoor environments. This products works particularly well with digital printing.
